sounds like your assitant did an improper shutdown of the camera.

Maybe this thread holds a solution to close off the files, so you can use them.

To be brief, I have recorded 1 hour 20 minutes in full HD using my new Sony AX53 and the size of the file is around 32GB but cannot be played back. I have noticed that the tiny file that normally comes with the main video file with the extension of .XML is missing.

So far, I have lost three important footage in this way. I believe the camcorder has a problem which Sony needs to address. it I am a professional producer and am familiar with cameras, however, however, in the last three occasions my assistant has switched off the camera and that is why I cannot be sure whether it is a fault by the camera or human error.

Nevertheless, it seems that the camera has recorded the movie to the full extent but needs the final coding. is there any way to recover the corrupt files? this is very important for me so would appreciate if Sony or anyone can advise.
