Handycam DCR-PC3E recognition by Windows7?

I connect my handycam DCR-PC3E via DV out (firewire) to a PC with Windows 7 via USB input.

The PC does not recognise the camera?

Does anyone have a solution?

Driver? Or what seems to be the problem?

Hi Jaak,

You need an iLINK (firewire) input to your Windows 7 PC and your PC3E camera will then be recognised in Windows MovieMaker.

No drivers are needed but you must have an iLINK port on your PC.

Hello Jaak - welcome to the Sony Forums

Do you mean that you are connecting DV out to a Firewire port or DV out to a USB port? Windows 7 can be a little difficult sometimes when connecting a video camera and as a basic solution I usually recommend downloading a basic free editor such as Windows Live Movie Maker 2011 to capture the footage before perhaps editing the video in a more complex piece of software (for basic uses, Movie Maker is pretty useful).

Beyond that, you may need to check that your Firewire drivers are up to date on your PC. USB can lead to some further complications in Windows 7 so I find that Firewire is the most reliable method.

Does anyone know where the right driver can be downloaded for this? A tip on which cable - brand, maybe an amazon suggestion - would also be most welcome! thanks!
