I am trying to retrieve photos from a memory stick, but I am getting a message saying the memory stick needs formatting. There are pictues on there, have I lost them? Is there any way that I can retrieve them?

Connect your memory stick to your computer and open up. If still trouble open Disk Utility and format stick

Well, Sony recomand to format memory stick in device and not on PC. You can see it on page 130 IM on link down for example. How to formating memory stick is explaint in settings explanation available in instruction manual under formating memory stick, in case of example dsc-w350 it is described on page 97, on link down
