NEX-FS700E Buffer query

Hello!

I have a question regarding the NEX FS700E - when using the Super Slow Motion setting, is there an incremental decrease in recording buffer as the frame rate is increased?

We use the FS700 to monitor operations at my place of work and the way we use it is as follows:

1. Alarm is sounded when there is a breakdown.

2. Closest operator presses 'rec' button

3. Footage of moments prior to breakdown should be available for review.

The chap that we bought if from said we had 30sec to get to the camera and press record - does anyone know of a scale that would indicate the buffer to frame rate ratio in increments or is there a standard buffer size?

Hi there, welcome to the Sony Forums

There will certainly be a decrease in buffer storage duration with increased frame rate, as the buffer is a physical memory component of a determinate size. You can of course offset this limitation with reduced resolution, given the smaller overall file size.

There's no scale chart that I know of; in fact I can't seem to find the spec on this for actual buffer capacity but in theory at least, you'll get 2x the capacity at 480fps as you would get at 960fps. I hope that's of some help.
