Sony NEX5-R (with SELP1650 lens) stretch the image near the edges?

This camera has a wide screen. Is there some kind of aspect-ratio-problem or auto-scaling of aspect-ratios? Can that be turned off to get more natural pictures?

All the pictures of people, taken with camera in vertical position, are un-natural.
