Hi iMarko, I'm afraid that might be directly related to the ear pads that you're using. But you can try resetting and initializing the headset:

https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm5/v1/en/contents/TP1000541012.html

https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm5/v1/en/contents/TP1000541013.html

Is it possible to disable the automatic wear sensor functionality?

I replace the ear pads as they had become uncomfortable after ~6 months, with thicker ones. The issue now is that my ear if further from the sensor so even when I'm wearing the headset, it thinks I am not. Because of this it turns off the NC/AMB modes and sets it to off.

I disabled the automatic power off option in the android app so they do stay powered. But it would be perfect if i could force it to stop changing the NC/AMB mode

Hi, yes, disable both wearing options through the app: https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/wh1000xm5/v1/en/contents/TP1000534533.html?search=wear%20sensor%20

Hi unfortunately that doesn't seem to work.

I have the both the automatic power off setting and the pause when headphones are taken off, settings turned off. But the ANC/AMB setting still defaults of the off mode when it thinks I'm not wearing the headset
