Sudden Battery Drain and Hot Phone after Software Update

Recently, my Xperia 1 IV updated the systems software to 64.1.A.0.913 and Support to 5.10.2

Since then, the phone has had terrible battery drain and the phone gets hot after using any app for a few moments.

It gets so hot, you can't touch it.

This only started after the system update.

How can I fix it?

It's UK, on O2 contract.

Currently the only way to fix this is to either perform a factory reset or to do a software repair

using the Xperia Companion application on a PC.

We have members now reporting that updates 61.2.A.0.460 and 64.1.A.0.929

are fine with no issues, which may save people having to restore / software repair.
