maybe pocket-lint has accumulated in the headphobes port, preventing the headphones to fully make contact.

You should be able to pull it out with a thin sewing needle if you bent the tip.

Thanks for the advice. I identified the problem. It was the phone case that prevented the headset jack from making contact.

ok, now I understand - it was not an issue with how the case was designed around the port - you just didn't press the connector into the port correctly.

The edge of the cover in front of the port easily blocked the port and the headphone jack did not reach to make the complete contact. I pressed and the jacket went to the end and the headphones worked
