Hi, yes, that's where I went first but it won't let me do anything as the bootloader is unlocked.
I tried after failed flashing it and it just told me my phone was locked and I should unlock it...

Anyway, I then tried the exact same procedure on a different laptop and it eventually worked - so I managed to wipe it completely and push it up to Android 10, which was my original plan.

Hi guys, bought an XZ2 off eBay last year with the bootloader unlocked. Figured that wasn't a big issue at the time and have been using it for over a year. Today I discovered that the method for updating to a later version of Android is to use "Emma", Sony's flashing tool for phones with unlocked bootloaders. So I connected my phone, chose the latest version that didn't erase my data. It spent a good 10-15 mins flashing it, no errors or anything. When it finished, I closed Emma, unplugged my phone and turned it on. It got to the Sony logo and didn't do anything. I know it takes longer after an upgrade so I left it... for 45 minutes, still nothing. plugged in a charger and the light didn't come on so I figured it had frozen.
Rebooted, no joy, still the same, eventually it came back saying that the device is corrupt and can't be trusted to boot so will turn off in 5 seconds. Great!
So, I tried basically all the different firmware options given to me in Emma, including ones that should erase user data, they now all fail.
I subsequently downloaded XperiFirm and connected my phone - it says it's still on the firmware version that I started with!! 52.0.A.8.83 - I initially tried to upgrade to build 52.1.A.0.618

I've then tried downloading a firmware using XperiFirm and flashing it using newflasher but that also fails!!
So, I'm now left with a phone that's a pretty expensive paperweight - does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, did you try to check if you will be able to perform a software repair with Xperia Companion?
