VIVAZ(TM) PRO Help?! Screen & keyboard inactive

Hi, I just bought the VIVAZ(TM) PRO eleven days ago and, so far there's been no faults, everything works as usual but tonight as I was listening to my music (it played about 6 out of 120 songs so far), the screen suddenly froze after I unlocked it. The music was still playing on smoothly. I tried pressing the call and menu keys, then volume/zoom keys, and even slid out the keyboard, and that was when I noticed: the keyboard would light up when you slide it, but this time it stayed 'dead'. Lastly I pressed the on/off button and waited for about 15 seconds, and then I tried pressing it again, but the screen still froze. Oh, and not long after it froze, the screen dimmed itself to a great dark blue color (which in my opinion, the phone was still on), but I can't recall when exactly it happened, before or after I pressed the on/off button... I proceeded to press the other keys again, not too fast, and realized the inactivity might have been caused by either the phone system or the app I was running (but even so, I only used the Media for music at the time). I panicked and so I decided to post here... please note this has been the first problem I have encountered in any of my phones. I have often heard that Ericsson phones do not last long, and have many faults, but I still hope this problem and its cause be realized soon.

EDIT: After writing the first sentence in this post, I had a hunch to take out the battery, but then I wondered if that would affect the phone's performance...is doing that really ok? But after re-inserting the battery and turning it on, things turned back to normal, but... I feared that me taking out the battery was a rather careless thing to do. If possible, I'd like for this matter to be solved as well...

---finally, in advance, I would like to thank anyone and everyone who has committed themselves to consider answering these questions of mine. God bless you
