How to download apps??

Hi, I'm trying to download some free apps from the "Market", does anyone know how long items take? I've tried to download a couple of free things 2 days ago and they are still downloading?

I know my internet is working ok as I can access Yahoo email and the browser no problem so my connection is ok?

But the blue "shimmering" download bar is showing saying "Starting download" but after many many hours still nothing???

Then it stops and I've got to restart it again????

Any ideas on downloading free apps???

There are a lot of threads floating around on the various Xperia discussion boards with the same problem. Some people have been able to resolve it by going in to Menu>Settings>Applications>Manage Applications and find Market and select uninstall updates if this is available to you.

Have a look in the More LIke This box to the right of the screen, you will see you are not alone and may be able to pick up further advice.

Hi thanks for your reply and sorry for the duplicate thread, as soon as I'd posted it, I saw all the other ones! Sorry.

I dont have that "uninstall" option available to me on Market and Market Update?? So cant do it?

I'll have a look at the other threads!

I don't have the uninstall thing either. I don't know if that is carrier or location specific but it does seem to be a mixed bag as to who has it and who doesn't.

Let's hope that the powers that be at Android Market sort out the issue sooner rather than later.
