Formatting an SD card

I just bought a bigger SD card, primarily to store music on. However, there's something wrong with it - sometimes, the music files I transfer across to it are not being retained (sometimes they're there; sometimes they're not) and sometimes they don't play properly.

I got in touch with the company I bought the card from, and they told me it might need formatting/reformatting, but I don't know how to do this.

Can anyone help?

settings>storage&memory>tap for more details>sd card>3 dots>storage settings>reformat

Can't see the image yet, but if you are in the "storage & memory" screen, tap the 3 dots in the top right, advanced, storage, tap on sd card, then 3 dots top right, settings, format

They sent me two more replacements and I'm still having problems.

As far as I can see, the phone erased and formatted them, I then transferred a load of music files, and they all seemed to be there.

I check again today, and they've all gone!
