Make sure that you backup using Xperia Companion before you reset.

To do a normal factory reset, please follow the instructions provided by @alexdon.

What is the reasoning for resetting the device? If you experience any unexpected behaviour, sometimes a software repair using Xperia Companion is better, as it will also reinstall the latest available software in the device, something that a factory reset does not do.

If you do not have a computer available, a normal factory reset is the only option and you can use the inbuilt backup and restore function to backup your data. Scroll down a bit on the link below and you will find information on how to do this.
