KD43XG8196 intermittently won't play videos via BBC or ITV catchup

Intermittent problem, but it's driving me nuts. Maybe three times out of five, when I access either the BBC or ITV apps, I can navigate perfectly well to the desired programme. But when I try to play it, the file simply won't load - I get a message saying, basically, there is a temporary problem with your video, please try again later.

It is NOT a connection issue - I have a very fast optical fibre connection, and the TV is sited right next to the wifi router.

Sometimes, but not always, disconnecting from the mains and waiting a couple of minutes sorts it. But sometimes not. Powering down on the remote does nothing to help.

I guess it must be some kind of software issue. Any suggestions?

Have you tried clearing the cached data?

Settings - Storage and reset - Internal storage - Cache - Clear

Afterwards, switch the TV off at the mains for at least a minute
