This sounds more likely to be AD (Audio Description) you have on rather than Screen Reader.

The remote for my YouView box has an actual AD button; this is easy to press by mistake, and my wife’s favourite Aussie soap was driving her crazy one time last week, after she had pressed it, and didn’t know what she had done, or how to switch it off. Or even what it might be called, as per your ‘narrator’; an accurate description, but nothing that tells you that you need to press a pesky button marked AD.

Has your Sony TV remote got such a button you might have pressed by accident?

Note: there is actually a lot of good stuff in the other 23 pages of this article, but although it claims to be a UK Edition, it doesn’t seem to mention YouView at all, so I suspect it is lifted direct from the US Edition; treat it accordingly.
